Twenty five
scooters participated in the 24 hour non stop event with all major manufacturers
present including Vmoto, Arqin, TGB, Yamaha, Peugeot, Aprilia, Bug and Daelim.
The Vmoto
Matrix team consisted of three competitors, including Perth rider Tanwyn Travers from Vmoto's head office, plus
Rob Morrell from the Sunshine
Coast and Craig Smith from South Brisbane.
Together the
trio completed 999.24kms trouble free over the 24hr period to give them a class
win some 168km ahead of second place. The Vmoto Matrix team also managed to
finish 14th overall ahead of many of the heavily modified scooters
from competing classes including the unrestricted and modified
class.
Commenting
on the stock class win Vmoto Matrix team representative, Tanwyn Travers said,
"The pace from the get go resulted in a number of spills on the track, but the
Vmoto Matrix team remained consistent and we held our ground.
"We raced in
three hour sessions with a five minute break in between so it was pretty tiring
but a lot of fun at the same time.
"Scooter HQ dealership on the Gold
Coast helped us with race preparations and throughout the event showed great
team support in seeing us cross the finish line so they're also a big part of
our dominance.
"We're
stoked to take the stock class win, it confirms Vmoto scooters are the most
reliable in their class on the market and can always go the distance."
Vmoto also
had solo representation in the modified class, with Adam Thomas from the Gold
Coast setting a record lap time combining all classes of 43.02 seconds on a
Vmoto Monza 50cc scooter. Smith also took second place in the modified
class.
